A man in his mid-twenties is being hunted by police after a schoolgirl was grabbed in the street on Wednesday.

The 15 year-old was walking along Star Road, Caversham near the Co-op when a man described as black and of average build approached her.

He grabbed hold of her arm but she was able to escape and raise the alarm.

The man, who stands at 6ft tall, was wearing a black hooded tracksuit top, black tracksuit bottoms and black gloves.

Police Constable Stuart Keys from Reading police station said: "If you witnessed this incident or have any information please contact me via the non-emergency number 101.

"There are reassurance patrols in the area and if anyone has any concerns that they wish to discuss, please speak to the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

"If you don't want to speak directly to police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court."
