MOTORISTS escaped injury after a two car collision on a busy Caversham junction this morning.

The drivers and one passenger were able to get out the vehicles without incident but firefighters had to help a trapped woman free herself from one of the damaged hatchbacks.

The Honda Civic and Vauxhall Corsa collided into each other in Richmond Road near the junction with Albert Road.

Crew manager Matt Hoult from Caversham Road fire station said: "It was a road traffic collision involving two cars and one person was trapped.

"We didn't need to use any equipment but just had to move the vehicle a couple of feet backwards so she could open the passenger door and get herself out."

The woman was left in the care of ambulance staff who were also called to the scene after the collision at around 10am today.

Fire crews said no one appeared to have sustained any significant injuries.
