Plans set to boost uni experience
READING University students will benefit from more comfortable rooms if plans to revamp the Whiteknights campus get the go-ahead.
The university has submitted plans to Wokingham Borough Council to replace facilities on the campus, including Bridges Hall, following consultation with students, staff and the public.
Acting vice-chancellor, Professor Tony Downes, said: "The replacement of the old Bridges Hall with a high-
quality development that will meet exacting environmental standards and deliver an excellent student experience will complete our ambitious project to make student accommodation at Reading second to none in the sector."
The scheme also includes a new catering hub, a junior common room, a new warden's flat, launderette and hall offices.
Sean O'Shea, chief executive of the Universities Partnerships Programme, which designed the plans, said: "Our proposals represent a clear vision to improve facilities and enhance the student experience."
The application is due to go before Wokingham Borough Council in January.
