CAVERSHAM'S police team has started tackling the three crimes residents have named their most troublesome.
The Neighbourhood Action Group (Nag) for the Caversham North and West neighbourhoods re-launched last month and residents' top concern was traffic -whether it be speeding, cyclists or the amount of vehicles.
The team has conducted several traffic exercises, enforcing speed restrictions in Henley Road and Woodcote Way and monitoring for mobile phone and seatbelt violations in Woodcote Road.
The neighbourhood team is also taking a robust stance on school parking, recording which parents have been warned about their driving and issuing tickets to persistently inconsiderate drivers.
The areas' second priority, burglary including bike theft, is down by 61.2% and 23.2% for North and West Caversham respectively, and PCSO Rob Dunford said: "This crime is still a matter of some concern for us and our residents.
"Over recent weeks, a number of our burglaries have included shed breaks and bike thefts. If you must keep valuables in a shed or outbuilding, make sure that they are property marked and, ideally, locked to a static point such as a ground anchor."
In response, the team is running events in and around Lower Caversham, including property marking stands, school assemblies and Have Your Say meetings, with one from 6-7pm on Monday at the team's office in Church House, Church Street, Caversham.
The third priority was environmental issues, including litter, lighting and noise, and officers are appealing for anyone who wants an Environmental Visual Audit of an area to contact either Thames Valley Police on 08458 505 505 or call Reading Borough Council on 0118 937 3737.
The Nag's inaugural meeting is on Tuesday, 6-8pm, at Highdown School in Surley Row, Emmer Green. To attend, call Inspector Penny Mackenzie on 08458 505 505.
