A LANDSCAPE gardener has been fined hundreds of pounds after dumping a fence panel in a field.

Craig Adams, of Beckingham Place, Spencers Wood, admitted fly-tipping a builder's bag, wooden pallet and plywood at Loddon Fields in Earley.

The 31-year-old was fined more than £800 at Reading Magistrates' Court for the offences, which dated back to July 2017.

He said he asked his contractors to remove the items once work had been completed, but this was not done straight away due to heavy rainfall and was eventually forgotten about.

Councillor Norman Jorgensen, executive member for environment, said: “There is no excuse for fly-tipping.

"It is a blight on our landscape and poses a danger to wildlife. I would like to extend my thanks to the team for another successful prosecution."

He was fined £666 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £66, and £150 costs.
