Nick Harborne is a fan of the Castle Tap in Castle Hill, Reading, and has nominated it for Bar of Year sponsored by Matthew Clark.

He said: “Simply a gem of a small local independent local pub that has placed a friendly welcome, warm atmosphere, great music, and community involvement at its core and is at its best in the 20 years plus I have known it.

“I commend it for its general support of local charities supporting the homeless in Reading and particularly for supporting Reading Refugee Support Group. Other popular national charities are often a more obvious/less risky choice for business so I think the Castle Tap clearly shows its genuine concern for the issues facing Reading its involvement with the people who live and work in Reading.”
