DRIVERS can expect delays on one of the busiest routes into Reading as major gas works get underway.
SGN is carrying out work on London Road for the next four weeks.
Eldon Road is closed from London Road. This effectively makes it a one-way street from King’s Road.
A diversion route will be in place via London Road, Sidmouth Street, Queen’s Road and King’s Road.
An SGN spokesman said: "This is essential work involving the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
"We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means once the work has been completed, local homes and businesses will enjoy the benefits of a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come."
