A CHARITY providing recreational opportunities to children with additional needs has received a huge funding boost.

Woodley-based Me2 Club received the generous sum of £5,000 from the Shanly Foundation to help young people with disabilities in Reading and Wokingham attend a leisure activity with a buddy.

The donation will allow 10 of the club's members to take part in activities, such as Scouts, drama and sport, for one year.

Liz McDaniel, fundraising and development officer for Me2, said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support from the Shanly Foundation.

"This £5,000 grant will allow 10 Me2 Club children to attend their weekly activities for a whole year with the individual support of their volunteers.

"It is only with donations such as this that we are able to work with so many families and we would love to hear from anyone else who is interested in helping us."

Tamra Booth, trustee at the Shanly Foundation, added: “The Me2 Club’s kind and meaningful work is essential to the Reading community.

"We are delighted to sponsor the club to support the volunteers and enable children with additional needs and disabilities to make the most of local leisure activities.”
