A SCHOOLBOY who suffered a severe internal injury in a horrific car crash late last night (Monday) remains in hospital, it has been revealed.

Seven people have been kept inside casualty after a collision which saw nine people, including four children, sustain injuries.

Emergency services including police officers, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene of the collision in Bath Road, Woolhampton, shortly before 9.30pm.

When they arrived it immediately became clear a white Vauxhall Corsa, carrying four people, had collided with a black Vauxhall Zafira, which was carrying five people.

A 19-year-old man suffered a serious back injury while a 16-year-old boy sustained a dislocated shoulder.

Meanwhile a 15-year-old boy travelling in the Zafira suffered a severe internal injury and had to be rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital.

A police spokesman said: "The incident took place on the A4 Bath Road at about 9.20pm, on the Reading side of the BP petrol station.

"The collision involved a white Vauxhall Corsa which had four occupants, and a black Vauxhall Zafira, which had five occupants.

"The other people in the Zafira, a 41-year-old woman, a 47-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl all sustained minor injuries.

"All the people involved were taken to hospital, and seven of them currently remain there."

Roads policing investigators have launched a probe into how the crash occurred.

Officers sealed off the road last night while the debris was cleared up.

Police constable Jamie Payne added: "I would like to speak to anyone who saw this incident, or who has any information relating to it.
