A MAN who attacked and knocked down three people TWICE after two brawls erupted in the town-centre was being hunted by police this afternoon.

The attacker was talking to a woman outside Nu-Vo in Cross Street, Reading, shortly after 1am this morning (Saturday).

He was then approached by three men before a violent brawl broke out, leaving one man in hospital with serious head injuries, following an argument.

The attacker beat up all three men by punching them to the floor before walking off towards Friar Street.

All three victims followed the man and another brawl ensued outside of STA Travel where they were attacked again.

One victim suffered serious injuries to his head and was rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital where he remained this afternoon (Saturday). His wounds are not thought to be life-threatening.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) launched an appeal to track down the man who was seen beating up all three victims.

A spokesman said: “At around 1am on Saturday morning (16/9), a male was talking to a woman in Cross Street outside Nu-Vo.

“He was approached by three men, the victim and his two friends, and they have a verbal altercation.

“The man who was with the female has assaulted all three men, punching them to the floor. He then walks off on to Friar Street with the woman. The three men then follow him where he assaults them again outside STA Travel.

“One victim a man in his fifties has received an injury to his head; he was taken to hospital where he remains. His injuries are not life threatening but are believed to be serious.”

The other victims received minor injuries in the shocking brawl and did not need hospital treatment.

The offender was described as a white man, around 6ft 2ins tall, in his late twenties and wearing a hooded black “Puffa” style jacket.

He was with a woman with dark curly hair, wearing a brown leather jacket.

Investigating officer, detective constable Peter Cave, added: “We are investigating this assault which started on Cross Street continuing on to Friar Street, both in Reading Town Centre, which happened at around 1am.

“We believe there are a number of people who have witnessed these assaults and we would ask anyone with information to please come forward.

“We would ask anyone with information to call 101 quoting reference 43170275074.”
