STEVE COTTERELL, 28, of Kingfisher Drive, Woodley, admitted sending false messages by a communication network and assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty. He was fined a total of £450, ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge fee of £35. Cotterell was also told to pay £150 in compensation.

MARK WINFIELD, 49, of Newtown Road, Newbury, was slapped with a six-month drug rehabilitation order. He admitted stealing a trolley full of groceries, valued at £177.31, from Tesco in Pilkington Lane, Newbury. Winfield also admitted stealing an Amazon Echo docking speaker and a Fire Stick from John Lewis in Newbury and failed to surrender to police custody while he was on bail.

KARL MANNING, aged 32 and of no fixed abode, was jailed for a total of one week after he was convicted of stealing a drink worth £1.80 from Marks and Spencers. The defendant did admit however to a charge of using abusive words in public to cause alarm and a single count of travelling on a train without a ticket. Manning was fined £200 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge fee of £150.

KERRY SANSUM, aged 25, of Oxford Road, was fined £300 because her daughter, who is of compulsory school age, did not attend school regularly. She was also fined a further £250 because the first offence was committed while she was serving a conditional discharge for a previous offence. Magistrates ordered Sansum to pay an additional £150 towards victim services.

ALEXANDER DAY, 23, of Station Road, Theale, was fined £220 after he was caught travelling on a train in Newbury without a designated ticket. He was ordered to pay compensation of £6.40, a victim surcharge fee of £30 and prosecution service costs of £160.

MAREK FADZIEJKO, 42, of Orchard Cottages, Twyford was fined £220 after he was caught travelling on a train in Windsor without a designated ticket. He was ordered to pay compensation of £7.50, a victim surcharge fee of £30 and prosecution service costs of £160.

AMANDA BASDEN, 37, of Pennyroyal Court, Reading, was ordered to carry out 14 hours of unpaid work after she admitted stealing a charity box worth £20 which belonged to Help The Heroes. There was no order for costs.

RICHARD HALL, 50, of The Oaks, Newbury, was conditionally discharged for 12 months after admitted behaving in a drunk and disorderly manner in Bartholemew Street, Newbury, in April. He was fined £50, ordered to pay prosecution service costs of £40 and told to pay a victim surcharge fee of £30.

FREDERICK WALSH, 45, of Burbidge Close, Calcot, Reading, admitted stealing several bottles of alcohol from Waitrose in Thatcham. Walsh was conditionally discharged for 12 months and was ordered to pay £360.99 in compensation.

ROBERT BLACK, 49 and of Westfield Road, Thatcham, was given a six-month conditional discharge for stealing a tips cup belonging to staff at Costa in Swindon. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge fee of £20 and prosecution costs of £20.
