A CAMPAIGN to send a six-month-old baby to America for life-saving treatment has raised more than £90k in one month.

Oliver Cameron was born with an incredibly rare heart condition and needs to fly out to Boston to have a large tumour removed.

The cardiac fibroma in his left ventricular means his heartbeat is irregular and he has a device fitted to monitor his heart day and night.

His parents have been in and out of hospital ever since his birth and they are praying for more generous donors to come forward in the hope of changing his life.

Tim Cameron, Oliver's father, said: "There are only two other children in the U.K with the condition that we know of.

"We have to go to America because the doctors in this country have no knowledge or experience in treating his condition.

"We can't take our eyes off him and he needs constant care and two kinds of medication."

Cardiac fibroma causes Oliver's heart rate to suddenly shoot up without warning and if he is unable to correct it himself he needs to be taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

Oliver's parents used to live in Lower Earley and Tim's step-father was a seasoned golfer at Hennerton Golf Club.

The family is organising a tournament on August 27 and a number of other fundraising events, in the hope of sending their baby boy to the States.

Tim added: "My step-dad used to play golf at the club and he sadly died last year. Hopefully the day will be a memorial to him and a successful fundraiser for Oliver.

"We have to reach the target before we can fly out to America. If he has another attack we need to be on a plane within a couple of weeks. This surgery will change his life.

"We have been told the surgery has a 100 per cent success rate. They have treated 27 children since 1990 and all have made a full recovery."
