A GOOD samaritan was brutally stabbed in the head multiple times after he attempted to stop a robbery in Broad Street.

At around 3am on Saturday (July 8) morning, a group of men were seen stealing a quantity of cash from two other men.

The 20-year-old victim and his two friends stepped in to prevent the robbery and chased one of the offenders along the street.

When he caught up with him, he was stabbed in the head several times and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

The victim has since been discharged.

Investigating officers would like to speak to the two victims of the robbery to assist with the investigation.

They are believed to be white males.

Detective Constable Nathan Lampard, based at Reading police station, said: "We are investigating this incident, which we believe to be a robbery where the victim tried to help and intervene and ended up being seriously assaulted.

"We would like to speak to the two victims of the initial robbery and we would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed either of the offences which took place, to help with our enquiries.
