SIX lucky residents of Thatcham have won big with their postcode.

The neighbours living in RG18 3BL each scooped £30,000 in the People's Postcode Lottery 'Street Prize' on January 21.

One of the Barfield Road winners, Heather Hopkins, 69, said: “I’m turning 70 later this year and it’ll be nice to get the whole family together to celebrate. Now I can afford to pay for everyone to go out for a meal.

“I’m still getting over the shock of winning. I’m retired now and there’s nothing that I need, but it’s lovely to know that there’s money there if I want to do something.”

Barbara Currie, 65, added: “My son is getting married this year and moving house, so we’ll be able to help him with that. Our daughter will also get the same amount of help.”

“Winning £30,000 is more than I expected and it’s nice to know we weren’t the only winners on the street.”

Whilst office worker Lynda Selby, 65, is planning an extra-special holiday. She said: “Me and my husband Malcolm love going to America and we’ll definitely plan a trip to San Francisco and Las Vegas with our windfall.

“I am so pleased to have won this money. My dad was convinced he was going to win the lottery and he never did, so I signed up to play People’s Postcode Lottery and now I can’t believe I’m a winner.”

Beryl Hutchins was also delighted with her windfall, whilst two residents weren't available to collect their cheques.

Thatcham isn't the only area in Berkshire to win this month as a resident in RG18 3BL scooped a £1,000 cash prize in the People's Postcode Lottery's 'Daily Prize' on January 18.
