A COLLISION between a motorcyclist and a cyclist brought traffic to a temporary halt last night.

The dramatic moment happened just outside of the main entrance to the University of Reading on Shinfield Road shortly before 6pm.

A cyclist could be seen laying on the ground while the motorcyclist was able to climb to his feet after dismounting his vehicle in the fall.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision while nearby motorists stopped their engines and got out to aid the cyclist.

A witness said: "It all happened quite quickly. I saw the motorcyclist in front of me fall from his bike and then I realised there was a cyclist too.

"The man on the motorbike got up fairly quickly but the cyclist was still laying on the ground.

"People pulled over and got out to help them while the ambulance was on its way."

The extent of the cyclist's injuries are not yet known.

More to follow.
