KNIFE wielding thugs left one man needing hospital treatment and two others fleeing in fear in a midnight raid, police revealed today.

The three friends were out walking when they were approached by two hooded raiders, who drew blades and launched an attack.

Two of the victims managed to escape the attackers and raise the alarm, but one of the men sustained injuries and needed hospital treatment.

Police investigating the raid said the attackers were still being hunted by the force after they made off with a blue and white backpack.

The incident happened shortly after midnight as the three friends were walking on Imperial Way near the junction with Worton Drive.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "The offenders both produced knives and attacked the men.

"One victim sustained injuries as a result of the attack and required hospital treatment; however, the injuries are not life threatening. The other two victims managed to escape and raise the alarm at nearby premises."

The attackers are both thought to be in their late 20s and around 5ft 7ins tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information should contact the force immediately on 101.

Investigating Officer, Detective Con Adrian Counsell, of Force CID based at Reading, said: “We are appealing for anyone who has information about this incident to come forward.

“We would appeal to anyone who may have seen this incident of anyone who recognises the men from their description to come forward.

“Also, if you have seen two men running off with a blue and white striped Adidas bag to also come forward."
