A 27-YEAR-OLD had his collarbone broken after an unprovoked attack on the Thames towpath during Readipop Festival.

The victim was sitting on a bench with his girlfriend near Christchurch Meadows at 11pm on Saturday, July 9.

They were approached by a black man, thought to be in his late 20s or early 30s.

The offender hit the man on the bench breaking his collarbone. The injured man needed treatment at the Royal Berkshire Hospital after the attack.

The attacker, who is stocky, at least 6ft tall, with a shaved head and a husky voice walked off towards Reading Bridge.

He is well spoken and was wearing dark clothing including black trainers and was carrying a black rucksack with thick straps.

Thames Valley Police have released an E-Fit of the man they are trying to trace.

Investigating officer, detective constable Karen Brown, said: "Today I am releasing an E-Fit of the offender in this unprovoked attack.

"I would urge anyone who recognises the image or description of the offender to come forward.

"The offence happened while the Readipop Festival was taking place at Christchurch Meadows, so if anyone saw a man acting suspiciously in the vicinity please contact us as you may have information that can help our investigation."
