FIREFIGHTERS spent more than three hours pumping water out of a Reading gym last night.
The Gym in Broad Street Mall has not been able to open for business this morning after a sprinkler set off automatically in the middle of the night, drenching the floor and ceiling tiles.
Three fire crews from Reading attended the scene in St Mary's Butts around 11pm last night.
It's unknown how much damage has been caused at this stage, but members will be informed by text and email when the gym re-opens.
A spokesman for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "They had a sprinkler that went off and it flooded the place.
"Some of the ceiling was quite damp.
"There was lots of water."
