A WOMAN living with several debilitating conditions says her life will be drastically enhanced with the help of a special new wheelchair and is hoping to organise a community event to help raise funds and awareness.

Vicky Dennis, 36, suffers with arthritis, muscular dystrophy, scoliosis and Klippel-Feil syndrome and spends most of her day in a wheelchair, being cared for by her boyfriend and other carers.

Ms Dennis, says she is desperate to organise a fundraising event so she can afford her dream wheelchair, as well as raise awareness of her story and others like her, but says she is struggling to find local businesses who will help host an event.

She said: “This chair can help me in so many ways; It reclines so I can stretch my hips and relive my pain and it raises too so I can talk to people at eye level which is amazing."

She is hoping that in the future something can be done to make it easier for people with degenerating diseases like her to afford the kinds of wheelchairs that can significantly improve their living conditions.

She said: “I think it should be easier for people like me to afford things like this, because they are life-changing and it’s hard for us to raise the funds needed.

“I’m hoping to find somewhere that will help me, because the ways in which this chair can change my life is amazing”.
