FUNDRAISING paddlers will descend on Reading this weekend for an annual charity event.

Thames Valley Riverside Park will play host to the annual Dragon Boat Festival on Sunday.

The event, which is being run by Reading Lions, is set to start at 10am with a number of special guests involved, including Debbie McGee.

Up to 26 teams will take part in several races along the Thames with trophies dealt to the third, second and first place teams.

A variety of other attractions are on offer at the festival including a beer tent, fare ground rides, food concessions and stalls, making for an entertaining event that provides free entry to spectators.

It is hoped that the event can raise more than £15,000 towards local good services before the event comes to a close at 4.30pm.
