A SPECIAL rhymetime event attended by nearly 500 people was held at the newly-reopened Abbey Ruins.

Staff from libraries across the borough hosted the session with help from the ever-popular Teddies Music Club on July 27.

Councillor Sarah Hacker, Lead Member for culture, heritage and recreation, said: “I am delighted we were able to host our first rhymetime in the Abbey Ruins.

"It is a great opportunity for Reading’s children to enjoy the ever popular free singing sessions in the amazing backdrop of such a historic site.”

The Teddies performed songs from their new show 'Pirate Pete and the Princess' which is set to launch at The Hexagon on October 25.

As well as joining in with the show, families had the chance to visit information stalls delivered by the Family Information Service.
