THE winners of this year's Green Park Schools Challenge have been awarded their prizes in a lavish ceremony.

Pupils from schools across Berkshire took part in the 3km fun run around Green Park on June 3 along with more than 1,000 families.

On July 16, the winners were formally presented with their prizes by Sir John Madejski and Green Park Conference’s Centre Manager, Amy Burbage.

The winning school was Aldryngton Primary School, with Crosfields School coming in second place, and Maiden Erlegh School coming third.

Matthew Raynor from The Willink School took the overall first boys place, while Kendrick School's Alannah Chadwick was the overall first girl.

Race director Judith Manson said: "“It’s always a wonderful evening, celebrating with the local schools. Running is such an inclusive sport; it’s lovely to see the excitement on the youngsters faces along with the growing talent in the county.

“The Green Park Challenge is growing in popularity and it’s fantastic to welcome so many familiar faces, families and schools across Berkshire back to the start line every year. Congratulations to all those who took part and we extend our thanks to our partners for their continued support.”
