A DRUG user has been evicted from his home after residents complained at his nuisance, noise and distress caused to the community.

Reading Crown Court granted Silva Homes (formerly Bracknell Forest Homes) an absolute possession order over a property in Easthampstead following complaints.

The tenant was participating in illegal drug activity, and caused distress to the community with his noise and his visitors causing nuisance.

Linda Wells, Executive Director (Customer Services) at Silva Homes, said: “We will not tolerate our homes being used for any form of criminal or serious anti-social behaviour. We know this can be hugely damaging and distressing in our communities. We have a very strong relationship with Thames Valley Police and we work closely together to collect evidence to deal with the perpetrators of this behaviour.

“This case has had a very successful outcome after months of work and we continue to be vigilant and alert to the risks of drug activity in our communities. These problems can occur in any area and across all housing sectors. It is often covert activity so information from local residents is important.

Sergeant Alex Gresty, based at Bracknell police station, said: “We work closely with our partners at Silva Homes to ensure that the local community remains safe and enjoyable for everyone. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and we have a range of powers that can be used to disrupt such activity.

“The local community provide our additional eyes and ears on the ground, helping us to build a picture regarding local issues. I encourage anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour to contact Thames Valley Police using the non-emergency number, 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency, when a crime is in progress, or there is an immediate threat to life.”
