A YOUNG girl is believed to have suffered minor facial injuries following a crash on Friday morning.

Paramedics and police were called to Forbury Road, near the retail park and a child is thought to have been treated along with two adults.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 8am after the two-car collision.

One eye-witness said: "The traffic had started to build, but it was not that bad.

"There was a young girl in the back of the ambulance, but it was hard to tell how injured she was.

"It looked like there had been a massive crash. Two cars had sustained a lot of damage and looked as though they had been written off.

"I am not sure if anyone else was hurt. There seemed to be some sort of liquid on the road and I would imagine this happened shortly before 8.30 this morning."

Thames Valley Police later confirmed an 11-year-old girl suffered facial injuries, while a 46-year-old man was reported for careless driving.

The injured girl was a passenger in a Mazda vehicle and the driver and another passenger in this car were not injured.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency 999 call at 8.08am with the caller reporting a two-car collision on Forbury Road.

"We sent an ambulance to the scene and three people involved - one adult and two children - had sustained minor injuries.

"After initial treatment at the scene were then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital."
