JOYOUS children were treated a circus spectacular at South Lake Primary School.

Members of the Parent, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) Happy's Circus to the school playing fields for an afternoon of tricks and laughter.

More than £750 was raised on the day to help fund extra-curricular activities for the pupils to enjoy.

Jo Shephard, secretary of the PTFA and event organiser, said: "We wanted to do the circus because we though it would be a good way to bring the community together.

"This was as much about giving the children a good time as it was to welcome the families to the school and put on a really good experience they would not have had access to anywhere else.

"We are certainly hoping to do more events like this in the future. A lot of work went into organising it, but it was well worth it to see the joy on the children's faces."

As well as acrobatic and aerial performances, children were given the chance to watch a number of daring displays.
