SMOKE bombs and glass bottles have been hurled through the air by rowdy football fans following England's World Cup matches.

Police have released a number of CCTV images after football fans took to the streets of Reading town centre to celebrate.

Offenders were seen throwing cans and bottles and were also reported for causing harassment, alarm and distress to other members of the public.

The incidents occurred in the aftermath of all of England’s group stage matches during the World Cup, on June 18, 24 and 28.

Groups of football fans were seen in Reading town centre Station approach, on Friar Street and at the Oracle shopping centre.

Footage emerged on social media of football fans signing and dancing in the streets after England's 6-1 victory over Pananma.

It later emerged that one fan was hospitalised after a brawl broke out at the Village Pop-Up Bar, close to Reading Train Station.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, suffered a broken nose, cheekbone and a bruised eye socket.

He has since been discharged from the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Investigating officers have released a series of images in connection with the spate of anti-social incidents and would like to speak to anyone pictured for further assistance.

Police constable Stephen Goddard, of the Neighbourhood problem solving team at Reading station, said: “I am appealing to the public for their assistance in identifying individuals shown in the images.

"I believe they may vital information about disorder in Reading town centre following England’s World Cup matches.

“I fully support the public attending Reading town centre and enjoying the facilities it has to offer.

"However, anti-social behavior, and public order of any kind will not be tolerated.
