CHARITABLE children have rallied to install a life-saving device at their school.

Pupils at Hermitage Primary School raised enough money to purchase two defibrillators for the benefit of the community.

More than £3,000 was fundraised after an inspiring talk from the Heartstart Thatcham team and the other device will be kept at the White Horse pub.

Peta Collicott, head teacher, said: “I was stunned by and also very proud of the children for the amount of money they raised from their sponsored walk for the defibrillator."

The defibrillator at the pub was donated in memory of resident Michael Early, who lived in the village his entire life.

Matthew Bryne, who helped make the presentation, added: "We thought it would be fitting to donate the defibrillator in his memory, to the village he loved so much.”
