THERESA May visited dedicated staff to praise them for going the extra mile to provide the best possible care to elderly people.

The Prime Minister was invited to Sunrise of Sonning, which recently received an 'Outstanding' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Two members of staff were celebrated as part of National Carer's Day after achieving 10 years of service.

Wendy Ladds and Linda Clifton and received certificates from Mrs May, who took the time to meet and greet residents.

The Prime Minister said: “It was a pleasure to visit Sunrise of Sonning and celebrate the work they do during Carers Week.

"Wendy and Linda are fantastic examples of the hard work and dedication shown by thousands of carers across the UK on a day-to-day basis.”

The day was specially organised as part of Carers Week to celebrate all team members at Sunrise of Sonning.

Carmela Magbitang, general manager at Sunrise of Sonning, added: “We were delighted to welcome Theresa May to our wonderful community to celebrate our amazing team. Residents absolutely loved meeting her and we are grateful for her time.

“Wendy has been with us right from the start and is a pillar of our community. She went on to recruit our amazing concierge team, including Linda, who are the first happy faces that people see as they walk through the Sunrise of Sonning doors.

"We are so grateful to them and all our dedicated team members for all that they do.”

Inspectors from the CQC were particularly impressed by the kindness and consideration of all staff, as well as the strong leadership of the facility.

Speaking about the 'Outstanding' rating, Ms Magbitang said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the whole team. It is testament to the pride our team members take in the care we provide and the dedication they show to the residents that live here.
