THIEVES smashed the glass windows of two convenience stores before stealing large quantities of cigarettes.

Thames Valley Police believes two burglaries in Sonning Common and Hungerford may be linked.

The first offence was at the Co-Op store in Wood Lane between 11pm and 11.40pm on Thursday.

Two offenders smashed the glass at the front of the store.

Another burglary occurred at a Co-op petrol station store in Charnham Street, Hungerford between 12.35am and 12.50am on Friday.

The two suspects were wearing masks and gloves, and one was wearing a light coloured hooded top, and the other had a dark coloured hooded top.

They were using what is believed to be a grey coloured BMW saloon car, which was seen at both locations.

Police constable Jessica Godfrey, based at Abingdon Police Station, said: "We do believe these two offences are linked and the same suspects carried out both burglaries overnight between Thursday 14 June and Friday 15 June.

"If you think you have information about who carried out these offences, please get in touch with the police."
