A THUG has avoided jail after biting a police officer.
Ebenzer Masade, 30, of Martin Street, London, was being arrested in Friar Street, Reading, on June 25 2017, when he bit the officer attempting to arrest him.
Masade was slapped with a 12 month conditional discharge after he was found guilty at Reading Magistrates Court on June 4.
He will have to pay £325 costs and £100 compensation. The officer he bit was not injured in the incident.
Investigating officer, Sergeant John Chen, based at Reading police station, said: “Assaults will never be tolerated, and I hope that this conviction serves as a warning to others.
“Masade’s actions were violent, and this incident demonstrates that when offenders assault police officers who are carrying out their duty, they will be arrested, charged and brought before the courts.”
