TALENTED young chefs needs your support after being chosen to represent Reading in a national competition.

Finley Macfarlane and Michael Auricchio will be taking part in UK's Young Pea Chef of the Year competition after dazzling the judges.

Members of the public will now vote for their favourite recipe before the finalists go head-to-head to be crowned the overall winner.

Finley, who attends Highdown School, said: "I can’t believe it. This is the first ever food competition I have entered and I am thrilled to be in the final.

"I am so excited about the opportunity to win £500 for my school.”

Finley’s recipe for pea mousse beat off hundreds of hopefuls to be selected as one of the final five by an expert panel of judges, including TV chef Rachel Green.

Michael, from South Lake School, developed a recipe for Yummy Gummies using frozen peas and apple juice.

He added: “It is very exciting, I hope my school and I win, especially as we are doing projects at school on growing plants and food at the moment.”

The young chef with the most votes for the primary school category will be crowned Young Pea Chef of the Year 2018 for their age group and will win a £500 donation from the Ocado Foundation.
