THIS is the dramatic moment a teenager climbed up on the roof of a school building after setting off the fire alarm.

Footage shows children stood on a playground looking up at a child who has scaled a roof of a building at Prospect School in Cockney Hill.

The youngster set off the fire alarm before dancing on top of the building.

He then posted pictures of himself on social media.

A school statement reads: "On Wednesday, just after 2.00 p.m., a student set off the school’s fire alarm and managed to scale the secured area to gain access to the roof.

"Thames Valley Police and the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were immediately called and responded. Shortly after the student came down safely and of their own accord.

"The welfare of our students and staff is our priority, so in line with the fire alarm procedure, all buildings were evacuated and students’ safety ensured.

"This incident is completely out of character for the student and at no point were they attempting to do themselves or others harm.

"We thank the professionalism and quick response of our emergency services and staff as well as the maturity and composure of our students.

Reports on social media speculated that the child performed the dangerous stunt after being placed on early study leave.

A post on Twitter read: "School was madness. One of my friends set off the fire alarm and climbed on the roof of the school which is three stories high and stayed on there for an hour all because they kicked him out."
