READING FC star Natasha Harding inspired a budding footballer to follow her dreams with a heart-warming video message.

Twelve-year old Sophie Corns messaged UEFA’s WePlayStrong Instagram account looking for some advice ahead of her Wales football trial in Cardiff.

She posted: “I need some advice from famous footballers, I’ve got a Wales camp May 6 in Cardiff and I don’t know anyone and I’m not good enough. I don’t think so. How should I be feeling and what should I do?”

Striker Harding, who plays for Royals' women's side and the Welsh national team, saw the plea for help and send young Sophie a video message to help her prepare for the trials.

Harding, who made her own debut aged just 18, said: "I think it’s important to let girls and boys know that we’ve all started somewhere and that their first, second, third or fourth trial may just be the start of their journey.

“Confidence is a massive part of football and everyday life, so if we can help someone be that bit more confident and allow them to relax and enjoy their football it can generate hugely positive results.

"I think the Together #WePlayStrong campaign provides a fantastic source of inspiration for young girls, as well as access to some of their sporting idols. It was a privilege to send a message to Sophie.”

Young Sophie said the video has inspired her to take the trial.

She added: "It felt amazing because she is actually one of my favourite footballers. Knowing that someone that’s so good in football has said this to me has made me more determined to be where she is.”
