MORE than 2,000 men are expected to take part in potentially life-saving cancer screenings in May.
Circle Reading Hospital will host the free annual event, organised by Reading Lions on May 12, between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
Bad weather forced the event to be postponed from March 3, with more than 4,000 people checked in the last five years.
Around 280 of those needed further investigation and more than 100 were diagnosed with prostate cancer that they were not aware of.
Prostate cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in the UK, with 31 deaths a day.
Organiser John Mack said: "This event is becoming increasingly popular year-by-year.
"The PSA test is a simple blood test that detects the level of Prostate Specific Antigen in the blood. All men aged 50 or over should really have a PSA test once a year.
"Men whose father or brother suffered with Prostate Cancer run a higher risk of developing the disease.”
