A TEENAGE thug who brutally stabbed someone before attempting to burn the evidence has been convicted of GBH.

Yaseen Ikram, of Cresswell Close, Reading, was convicted after a four-day trial at Reading Crown Court.

The 18-year-old, along with Saqib Mansoor, of Basingstoke Road, Reading, will be sentenced on April 19.

The duo carried out a terrifying attack on a 25-year-old man on September 26 on Foxhays Road, at around 10.10pm.

He suffered stab wounds to his torso, resulting in damage to his hear, lung and bowel. His right hand and left bicep were also injured.

The victim had several operations and spent a number of weeks in intensive care.

They stopped their car alongside the victim's before getting out and smashing the passenger window. Ikram leaned through the window and stabbed the man before fleeing the scene.

The victim made his way home, where he collapsed before he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

On 10 October, Ikram and an unidentified person returned to the location in an attempt to destroy evidence that may have assisted the police with their investigation by setting it on fire.

Ikram suffered burns to his hands and face and later called for an ambulance. He repeatedly lied about the cause of these burns.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jon Morley, of Force CID at Reading, said: “This was an horrific attack that left the victim with serious injuries.

“To date, he has had a number of operations in order to repair the damage from his injuries.

“He spent a number of weeks in intensive care and sedated. He is slowly recovering from his injuries.

“This case demonstrates that Thames Valley Police will not tolerate violent offences such as these and officers will work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are brought before the courts.”

Mansoor, 28, was convicted of one count of GBH, while Ikram was convicted of one count of GBH, one count of possession of bladed article and one count of perverting the course of justice.
