A RUNNER will be in a race against time as she prepares to take on a half marathon and organise a concert all in the same day.

Kathryn Le Coz performs with Twyford Singers and plays piano every year in the annual concert at St Mary's Church.

However, the mother-of-two is also taking part in the first London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday to raise money for Kidney Research UK.

As well as donating a kidney to her older brother nearly nine years ago, Kathryn's mother was diagnosed with kidney failure when she was only a young girl.

She said: "The hereditary disease passed down to both my brothers, David and Andrew. My sister, Jane, and I were extremely fortunate not to get it and both offered ourselves up for living donor transplant testing.

"I want to make it through this race in memory of my mum. The half marathon will take place just a few days before what would have been her 80th birthday.

"Twyford Singers have their Easter Palm Sunday concert the same day as my half marathon so I need to get around the course as quick as I can to get back from London in time for rehearsals in the afternoon."

Kathryn, who lives in Charvil with her two children, has so far raised more than £2,000 for Kidney Research.

The inaugural London Landmarks Half Marathon will see more than 10,000 runners take in the iconic surrounds of the capital, including Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London.

She added: "It will be my first half marathon to raise money and awareness for Kidney Research UK and to encourage people to join the NHS organ donor register.

"Having never ran more than 10k before and having also had a cruciate ligament replacement back in 2002, the half marathon has always been one challenge too far.

"I am determined to make it around even if have to walk, hop or crawl parts of it."

The Twyford Singers concert is at 7pm in St Mary's Church, Twyford.
