A CHARITY which supports young children with disabilities and additional needs has scooped a highly coveted award.

Dingley's Promise, which has centres in Reading, Wokingham and Newbury, won the Charity of the Year title at the Thames Valley Business and Community Awards.

Held at The Macdonald Berystede hotel & Spa, in Ascot, the awards recognise and celebrate the best businesses, charities and individuals the region has to offer.

Guests enjoyed a sumptuous meal while being entertained by one of Europe's best Tina Turner impersonators, Tiny Tina Turner. The evening also managed to raise nearly £15,000 for charities Sue Ryder, Cherishers and Prostate Cancer UK.

Dingley's Promise chief executive Catherina MacLeod MBE said: "We were so surprised to win the award, as we have always focused on the west of Berkshire and this is the first time we have been recognised across the whole area.

"We would love to increase the number of families we can reach by spreading some of Dingley’s ‘promise’ to the east of Berkshire, and this has certainly encouraged us to focus on doing that.

"As we said on the night, thank you to every family who has trusted us with their children over the past 35 years.

"We will always do everything we can to give every child the very best start.”
