A DRUG dealer who exploited juveniles by supplying them with cannabis to sell to other teenagers has been jailed.

Thomas Chalk, of Cromwell Road, Newbury, was arrested at his home on October 22 and police seized a small amount of drugs.

Two 16-year-old boys were also arrested and provided evidence to the police that Chalk, a middle-level dealer, had been supplying them with cannabis to sell to others.

The 27-year-old was charged with supplying Class B drugs and he was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Reading Crown Court on February 16 after pleading guilty to the charge.

Investigating officer PC Christopher Eaton said: "Chalk was profiting financially by exploiting local juveniles supplying them for mid-market deals of cannabis.

"I hope that this sentence acts as a deterrent to others and sends the message that if you deal drugs, you risk going to prison.
