HAVE you felt any tremors in Reading and West Berkshire this afternoon?

European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) had reports from a handful of residents who reported sharp bursts of shaking.

Many residents have felt shaking after a 4.4 magnitude earthquake hit Wales earlier today.

At around 2.40pm one user in Newbury said: "Felt a minor shake and heard the house crack. Lasted less than a second. Very strange feeling."

Another, from Reading, wrote: "I was wondering if this was an earthquake or someone dropped some furniture next door.

"EMSC informed me it actually was an earthquake M5. Scary feeling."

One Kintbury user explained: "Was tidying up a bookshelf and just moved some books next to some records....they fell over in it the vacant space - they could not have moved by themselves as they were leaning the other way."

The British Geological Survey confirmed that the epicentre of the earthquake was near Swansea, but the aftershock resonated across much of the south of England.
