A MAN was sent to jail for beating up another man outside a pub over a year ago.
Ben Thompson of Hawthorn Road, Newbury was jailed for a year for the assault outside the Slug and Lettuce pub, early on January 15 last year.
Thompson punched and kicked the 23-year-old victim, who suffered a broken jaw and had to undergo surgery.
Thompson, who appeared at Reading Crown Court on February 2 was also ordered to pay a fine of £140.
Investigating officer, detective sergeant Gareth Perry of Force CID based at Newbury police station, said: "Such violence will not be tolerated in Newbury and our thorough investigation into this offence demonstrates that offenders will be caught and dealt with through the courts."
