FAILED thieves are being hunted by police after attempting to steal a cash machine in the early hours

A group of five men tried to make off with an ATM at a BP garage on Basingstoke Road, Three Mile Cross, Reading, but fled the scene after several unsuccessful attempts.

The men approached the garage at around 2.20am on Saturday, December 30 in a dark coloured vehicle, similar to a Subaru Forester.

Police said they were all wearing tracksuits with their hoods up.

Investigating officer, police constable Erika King, said: "We are appealing for information following this incident.

"We are asking anyone who might have seen this incident of seen a dark coloured vehicle in the area before or after the incident to please call Thames Valley Police."
