HE MAY be used to sprinting up and down a football pitch, but Reading FC’s Dave Edwards has now stepped outside of his comfort zone.

The Welsh international, 31, has spent his free time putting pen to paper to produce a book based on his illustrious career.

‘Living My Dream’ promises to take readers through Edwards’ whirlwind experience of the iconic Euro 2016 campaign.

It saw Wales reach the semi-finals of the contest, before they crashed out against eventual winners Portugal.

Speaking about his new venture, Edwards said: “It has been quite a while in the offering.

“It’s an insider’s view which nobody ever really hears about.

“For the last couple of years I have been journalling.

“I wish I had done it all through my career because there are some stories to tell.

“I believe as a football fin it gives you an insight to what happens at major tournaments. When you’re watching from home you only see what happens during the game.”

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder had planned to hold back the book until next year.

But Wales’ failure to secure a place in next year’s World Cup changed his mind.

He added: “It took four or five months to write.

“It was realy enjoyable and it was nice to look back on my career and trigger old memories.

“The last month or so has been hard, once we realised we weren’t going to make the World Cup I decided to get it out before Christmas.

“If we had made the World Cup I think I would have waited and combined the two competitions.

“Finalising book covers and blurbs is not something I’m used to but it has been a really good experience.”

All proceeds from sales will go to Little Rascals Foundation, founded by Edwards.
