AMATEUR drivers are drumming up innovative and wacky designs as they prepare for a charity soapbox race.

Following the success of last year, the Royal Berkshire Charity (RBC) Soapbox Challenge will return to Englefield Park on August 18 next year.

The non-motorised racing event invites competitors to make their designs a reality before relying on gravity and adrenalin to conquer the course.

Ian Thompson, charity director, said: “We had an absolutely fabulous day last year and are really looking forward to this year’s event.

"It should be very exciting and great fun for both participants and spectators and a great fundraiser.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the Benyon family, who have once again kindly allowed us to use their home, Englefield Park to host the event.

"Their continued support of the RBC is very much appreciated.”

Entry forms for the race can be found on the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust website, or by calling 0118 322 6969.
