THE DISTRAUGHT owner of a vintage car which was stolen from his driveway on Halloween has appealed for its return.

Mark Noone was devastated when he woke up this morning to discover his red MGB, which holds a significant sentimental value, had been taken.

Mr Noone, of Derby Road, Caversham, said: "From a personal side, the car has been a shared passion for me and my 10-year-old son.

"I went through a divorce three years ago which was unwanted and the car has been one of the ways my son and I have bonded and kept together.

"The classic car market is growing at an incredible rate.

"One of my neighbours heard loud revving at around 1.30am.

"That would make sense because it is difficult to get it started on a cold morning, even with the keys.

"They must have known what they were doing."

Mr Noone notified Thames Valley Police about the theft and also warned the British Ports Association to be on the lookout.

Reading Chronicle:

Children enjoy a go in Mr Noone's vintage MGB.

He believes someone may be trying to take the car over to mainland Europe and thanked members of the public for sharing his social media appeal.

The 41-year-old added: "We [my son and I] travel everywhere in that car. We took it to Le Mans in France.

"The loss to me is more about the sentimental value.

"I have had it for around five years now.

"I was in complete disbelief. At first I thought maybe someone had let the handbrake off and moved it to a different street or something because it was Halloween last night.

"I thought it might have been a prank."

Anyone who knows of the car's whereabouts should contact Mr Noone via Facebook.
