A DETERMINED thief was caught on CCTV taking his time destroying a set of railings in order to steal a bicycle.

The bungling bike thief can be clearly seen ripping the metal railing out of the ground and then tearing it apart.

The CCTV shows the thief, dressed in tracksuit bottoms and a grey hooded jacket, pull the railings out of the ground in an attempt to take the bike.

However, as he discovers that the bike is still attached, he is seen jumping up and down on the white painted rails.

The determined thief does not rest until he has snapped every bar of the railings to break the bike free.

Ben Havers, the owner of the expensive road bike, which has now been stolen twice, said it had been stored at a locked site with big, spiked gates.

"I parked the bike there planning on going to pick it up the following morning," said Mr Havers.

"We have no idea how he got into the site.

"I had just gotten into biking again and that's when this happened.

"I got the bike because someone bought it into my dad's work with two locks still attached. He was asking for an angle grinder.

"My dad paid him 50 quid and we reported it straight to the police because we thought it was suspicious. The police said if nobody claimed it within six months then we could keep it.

"So it's the second time that bike has been stolen."

The incident took place by Mr Havers' father's car sales business near Bath Road, Reading.

Anyone with information should contact Thames Valley Police on 101.

Mr Havers, 17, added: "It has some distinctive red insulation tape around the handlebars.

"I love that bike.

"Please just return it."
