DEMOLITION works are underway to make way for a new community centre.

Contractors have cleared six blocks of flats in Dee Park, Tilehurst, as part of a £150m regeneration project over the last seven years.

The latest phase will see the site of Thurso Close transformed, providing a flexible space with meeting rooms and a community hall.

Councillor Jo Lovelock, Leader of the Council and Chair of the Dee Park Project (DPP) Board, said: “I am sure residents will be pleased to see the regeneration of Dee Park moving forward and these old blocks of flats being demolished.

“These works are a positive step as they will clear the way for a much-needed modern community centre which can be used by local residents, groups and organisations.”

J.Mould has been tasked with carrying out the demolition for the Dee Park Partnership, which is a joint venture with Reading Borough Council, Wilmott Dixon and Catalyst.
