A MOTORCYCLE crash has left a young man with serious injuries to his leg after he was hurled through the air.

Paramedics were called to Roebuck Rise in Tilehurst at around 8.20am when a Citreon C3 collided with the 21-year-old man.

The motorcyclist was sent flying to the ground between Oxford Road and Durant Way and sustained less serious injuries to his back.

Officers from Thames Valley Police closed Oxford Road in both directions while he was being treated for 'significant' pain in his leg.

He was treated at the scene before being rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 8:17am with the caller reporting a collision between the car and motorcycle resulting in the rider being thrown approximately 10 feet - he was reported as being breathing and conscious but in significant pain.

"The rider was a 21-year-old male who had sustained a serious lower left leg injury and a less serious back injury."
