A CARE home is inviting the community to come forward to attend a free dementia advice session.

Winchcombe Place care home in Newbury will open its doors on Monday, September 18, to offer vital support to families who may be caring for someone living with the condition.

Debra Fox, a dementia specialist, will be on hand to help at the Maple Crescent centre from 2pm to 4pm for the 'Understanding Dementia' event.

Cliff Hutchings, home manager, explained: "We strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those looking after a loved one with dementia.

"The aim of the event is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones and to support them to lead independent and full lives.

"Previous events have proven to be incredibly popular and we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Winchcombe Place for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon."
