A NOTORIOUS nightclub which recently lost its alcohol licence following a string of violent brawls was burgled earlier this morning.

Police were called to Eva's nightclub shortly after two men were seen smuggling bottles of booze out of the Hosier Street hotspot.

Police  cordoned off the club with blue and white tape and officers could be seen trudging in and out of the building as they combed the area for clues.

Two men, a 25-year-old from Reading and a 22-year-old from Slough, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in police custody.

The club had its licence temporarily revoked recently after bouncers took selfies whilst a huge crowd hurled abuse and a drink at police and a specialist dog unit.

A hearing on the its licence is due to be held on September 5.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "At around 6am this morning officers were called to Hosier Street, Reading, to reports that two males were seen carrying bottles of alcohol out of Evas nightclub.

"We are investigating this incident and would ask anyone with information to call 101."
