FESTIVAL goers can benefit from reduced bus fare reductions running up to and on the bank holiday weekend.

From 9am on Wednesday regular numbered 98 buses will operate between Reading Station North and Rivermead Leisure Centre, near Reading Festival's Red Gate.

The service will cost just £1 each way.

Extra early services start at 6.30am on Thursday and Friday, 7.40am on the Saturday and 8.10am on the Sunday.

Buses then run through the night Sunday into Monday to help festival goers make their long ways home.

“We are running regular buses from Wednesday all through to Monday, during the peak times buses will run as a frequent service so there will only be short waiting times for them,” said Jake Osman, marketing and communications manager at Reading Buses.

“The 98 will run early to late, usually until midnight to 1am. With the buses on the final night running non-stop to help get everyone home.

“There will once again be frequent buses numbered 97 between the Festival site and Sainsbury’s in the town centre as we team up with the Friar Street store."

Buses will also leave from the Rivermead Leisure Centre Car Park by Red Gate, providing visitors a door-to-door service to get festival essentials.
